Mansfield Woods vacation cottages are located in Mansfield Missouri, in the beautiful rolling green Ozark Mountains. They offer 5 cottages set up on a hill in a very woody setting. The cottages are about 1/4 mile off the highway. Far enough off the main road that they can't be seen by passing cars, but they are close enough to be very convenient.
The setting is a 23 acre estate with fruit trees, a fishing pond, and even a cave for those who like an adventure.
Each of the cabins has a sleeper sofa and a double or 2 twin beds. They also each have a private full bathroom with a Bathtub and shower. The kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, sink, microwave, and coffee maker. The cottages are also pet friendly. (Just call ahead for specifics.) And if you are allergic to pet dander they do have a couple of cottages that are pet free so you can enjoy your stay without that worry. The cottages are also insulated and have heat and AC for year round comfort.
We really enjoyed our stay although we arrived late and left early. We were there to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home & Museum across the street. Barb took the time to tell us all about the nearby sites and was genuinely interested in our trip. Our cottage was clean and well equipped with everything we needed.
Nearby the mansfield Woods is the Wilder Graves at Mansfield Cemetery, Laura and Almanzo's home, Rocky Ridge Farm, and the Rock house that Rose built for Laura and Amonzo.
They showed us to Hick's cave where Laura Ingalls daughter Rose once got lost. It was written about in one of Laura Ingalls books.
We went a ways into the cave but I am 6'5" and the cave is not. ; ) So we didn't go in very far.
The Mansfield Woods is a great place to retreat for some peace and quiet in the country. They have a fish pond, a fire pit, tons of trails and lots of things to explore. They can handle small groups on a short stay or larger groups like family reunions and even weddings.
We only wish we had more time to spend exploring at Mansfield Woods. We Arrived around 6 pm, got settled in our cabin, made dinner and crashed for the night. The next morning the Wilder Home & Museum didn't open until noon so we had a little time to look around, checkout the cave and then we had to pack up and move on to the next stop... St Louis, MO.
