Hidden Valley Animal Adventure
Looking for a unique experience with lots of animals in a VERY clean environment? The Hidden Valley Animal Adventure in Varysburg, NY is for you. The cost is $18 per adult and $14 for kids 10 and under, so its not super cheap but they do a good job and the facility is top notch. The guides were very professional, the equipment was in brand new condition, the grounds were impeccable.
Our guide told us they have over 400 animals in the 60+ acre park and what seemed like dozens of varieties. Their website lists "camels, zebra, wildebeest, llama, emu, bison, ostrich, and many more". They give you a cup of grain to feed the animals and you can buy more for $1 each, but they don't push that on you. The trolley safari ride was about 40 minutes I would guess, I didn't time it. They make several stops so everyone can feed the animals and get pictures.
The safari was fun for our teenagers as well as the toddlers that were on the trolley, as well as the parents and grandparents.
After out safari we stopped in the Trailside Grill for a late lunch. The food was good and fairly priced. Burgers were $10, and chicken fingers $9. Most of the meals come with chips and you can "upgrade" to fries or onion rings. Fries are $2 and Onion rings were $3 extra. So watch for that if you are trying to not spend a lot of money.
Pros:
They don't force you thru a gift shop. They had a small one but we didn't even go in.
Animals were great.
Staff was great and very attentive.
Lots of parking.
Cons:
Seemed like it could have used more signage.
11+ year olds charged as adults so they pay the full $18.
Big stones in parking lot.
