We visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania, about 2 miles north of Shanksville in July. We were on our way back to Buffalo from a road trip to Maryland. There was quite a crowd there. The parking was a little odd. They had large plastic mats on a dirt field. I seemed like this was temporary until the permanent visitors center was completed. I guess they will have a regular parking lot at that point. You can’t get to the actual crash site. It is only accessible to the families of the victims. The memorial was very nice and there were plenty of staff available if you had questions or needed help.
The memorial is about 20 miles off the main road but it is definitely worth the trip.
