Going To the Sun Road  Glacier National Park, Montana

This road was completed in 1932 and is the only road that crosses Glacier National Park.  In the winter the snow can drift to 80- to 100 ft deep.  It is known as the Big Drift.  It can take months to clear the snow from the road. In 2011 the Going To the Sun Road did not open until Mid July because of the heavy snow.
